The commune of Chamoson is home to 10% of all vineyards in Switzerland’s
largest winegrowing region. It was therefore only natural to form a circle
of wine lovers here. The term circle may not communicate the
full spirit of the founders’ intentions, but Les Amis de la Fondation
is nonetheless a key element in the long-term promotion of the appellation.
Chamoson produces quality wines that are not well enough known, and although
the region is magnificent, it lacks visibility.
Les Amis de La Fondation does not target primarily wine professionals,
but rather amateurs in the best sense of the term: those who have a passion
for life and for wine.
In the face of rapidly changing consumer habits and the stress of modern
life, people no longer take the time to talk or just casually chat together.
In addition, recent scandals affecting the food industry have tarnished
the image of consumable products and raised awareness about the importance
of well-made authentic products.
Wine is an integral part of modern culture, and it is important to educate
young people about the traditional values of drinking responsibly and
eating well.
Defending and promoting the terroir of Chamoson
Les Amis de la Fondation aims to establish a convivial and friendly environment
conducive to bringing together people who live in the same region or share
common interests. The association is open to everyone and is intended
to be a true circle of friends willing to serve as ambassadors for Chamoson.
Membership in Les Amis de la Fondation is a doorway to discovery about
winegrowing, winemaking and gastronomy. Members have privileged access
to the Foundation’s portal and receive a subscription to an e-bulletin
that is currently published four times a year. The founders plan on adding
other member benefits, many of which will be built around cultural events.
Members of Les Amis de la Fondation receive at least four invitations
every year:
| • |
In March to an outdoor event (whatever the weather) to celebrate
the pruning of the vines; wear comfortable clothing and bring a bag
lunch to be eaten following a hike through the vineyards. |
| • |
In May, Vinissima opens its doors for three days of celebration
in St-Pierre-de-Clages. |
| • |
In September, Les Amis de la Fondation will meet in Sierre to learn
about what’s going on elsewhere in Valais. |
| • |
In November, there will be a post-harvest event in the village of
Chamoson. |
